Student Flashmob at the University of Padua: “No Impunity for Netanyahu, States Must Uphold International Law”

April 2nd, 2025

This morning, the students of the course “Political System of the European Union” at the University of Padua, taught by Prof. Marco Mascia, holder of the Jean Monnet European Chair, organized a flash mob at Palazzo Bo, with the support of Amnesty International Padua. The initiative denounced the failure to enforce the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, protesting against Hungary and other EU Member States, including France, Italy, Poland, and Germany.

As emphasized by the Antonio Papisca Human Rights Centre, impunity represents the main obstacle to justice and reparations for victims, eroding trust in democratic institutions and the principles of the rule of law. Furthermore, the responsibility to investigate and prosecute international crimes is a legal obligation for states. Neither reasons of state nor political considerations can justify the failure to execute the arrest warrant.

In addition to the flashmob images, a folder with all event photos was compiled, along with a series of informative slides for Instagram.
