January 26th, 2026

We wish to highlight the English-language article “Beyond the Barriers: Analyzing Implementation, Consequences, and Coping Mechanisms of Collective Punishment in Palestine” by Oqab Jabali, published in December in the Journal Punishment & Society

The study, also based on qualitative research, explores the impact of collective punishments imposed by Israel on the Palestinian population, highlighting how restrictions, demolitions, and other measures deeply affect daily life, social cohesion, and psychological well-being. At the same time, the work emphasizes the resilience of Palestinian communities, who face these challenges through solidarity, cultural preservation, and creative adaptation strategies. The findings draw international attention to the urgent need to address the humanitarian crisis and systemic injustices resulting from these practices.
