The Governance of Security at a Crossroads. New Actors, Policy Tools and Emerging Challenges for Policy-Making

The conference “The Governance of Security at a Crossroads. New Actors, Policy Tools and Emerging Challenges for Policy-Making” – the final conference of the PRIN PNRR project How to Reduce Crime and Disorder? An Impact Evaluation of Italian Administrative Orders – aims to reflect on the evolution of urban security policies and on the changes currently affecting territorial governance, considering ongoing social and institutional transformations.

Drawing on the results of the research project, the conference brings together scholars, institutional actors and practitioners to discuss the role of administrative orders and their impact on local communities. Particular attention is given to how these tools are used in the governance of urban security, the effects they produce over time, and the issues they raise in terms of effectiveness, legitimacy and the protection of rights. The discussion aims to contribute to a better understanding of current policy choices and of the challenges shaping the relationship between security, governance and democracy in urban settings.
