Racial profiling, territorial control and urban exclusion policies

On 13 February 2026, from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm, the meeting “Racial profiling, territorial control and urban exclusion policies” will take place at Circolo ARCI Scighera, as part of the sCONFINARE School, an advanced training programme for legal practitioners working in the field of international protection, grounded in a decolonial and intersectional approach.

Promoted by ASGI and Le Carbet, the initiative offers a critical analysis of current urban security policies, with a specific focus on practices of racial profiling, the use of urban DASPOs (banning orders), and the establishment of so-called “red zones.” Through an interdisciplinary approach, the meeting will bring together legal, sociological and political perspectives, fostering dialogue between academic research and activist experiences. The aim is to highlight the concrete effects of these measures on people’s everyday lives and to discuss possible strategies to challenge systemic forms of discrimination. Speakers will include Matteo Astuti, Anna Brambilla, Roberto Cornelli, Nicola Datena, Rahel Sereke, Laura Squillace, Selam Tesfai, Valeria Verdolini and Mohamed Wa Baile.

The event will also be held online via the Zoom platform.

Participation is free of charge upon registration via the provided link. For further information, please write to formazione.milano@asgi.it. The event flyer is attached.

The event is currently undergoing accreditation by the Milan Bar Association for the recognition of continuing legal education credits.
