Mafia in Milan and Lombardy

On 21 May 2026, at 10:30 a.m., in Lecture Hall 311 at Via Festa del Perdono, an event titled “Mafia in Milan and Lombardy” will take place, dedicated to analyzing the presence and transformations of mafia organizations in the Lombardy context.
The initiative will open with an introduction by Roberto Cornelli, who will outline the main topics of the discussion. This will be followed by talks from Mario Portanova, Giampiero Rossi, and Franco Stefanoni, who will explore from different perspectives the dynamics of settlement and the operational methods of organized crime in the Milanese and Lombardy area, with particular attention to its relationships with the economic and social fabric. The conclusions will be delivered by Fabio Basile, who will provide a synthesis of the key points that emerged during the event.
The event is part of the Criminology course at Università degli Studi di Milano and is organized in collaboration with the PhD program in Organized Crime Studies, with the support of the Centro di Ricerca in Criminologia e Politiche Pubbliche and the Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche Cesare Beccaria. It is an academic in-depth session aimed at encouraging reflection on a phenomenon with significant social and legal impact.
